Strategic planning is a process whereby we position ourselves in the future by analyzing current trends and then decide to influence those trends most important to us. Foremost, strategic planning is about us, what we need to do and want to achieve. The future is ours – how do you define it?

2) Comprehensible, Collaborative, and Colorful
3) AALL should establish standards and policies to evaluate new forms of legal resources including free internet resources. AALL should make researchers, scholars, and students freely access to the primary legal authorities.

3) What would you like AALL to accomplish in the next 3 years?
AALL should advocate strongly for improved free access to legal information from all branches of government and jurisdictions; in particular we should be working with the Federal Courts to make PACER a top-notch authoritative resource.
AALL should establish policies to promote ethical interactions with legal information vendors so that law librarians’ decision-making, education, and research activities will be free from any influence created by improper financial relationships with, or gifts provided by, vendors.
AALL should work to increase the conversation and collaboration between law firm librarians, lawyers, law librarians in government and law librarians in law schools to ensure that we are training law students as well as legal professionals to do excellent, efficient legal research knowing the resources available and knowing when to turn to law librarians for help.

Three words to describe AALL: Collaborative, Innovative, Responsible.
I would like to see AALL continuously foster the up and coming generation while still drawing on the knowledge of the current and past leaders. AALL should also continue to work with government officials in promoting free and open access to information.
Alert, Active, and Aware should describe law librarians and AALL now and in the future.
